NRMA Insurance (IAG) chooses DipStik for NSW Flood Warning System trials

Tuftec Solutions has been working closely with IAG and NSW SES to select a number of problematic flood locations around NSW to trial 18 DipStik flood warning devices. These DipStik devices have been configured to utilise a number of available system features, including SMS alert messaging, remote flashing warning beacons, local flood image capture and legacy Flood Warning System integration.

Each DipStik test site is configured to monitor the onset of rising flood waters and to promptly send alert messages directly to local emergency management personnel for rapid response.

All units incorporate a flashing beacon to alert people in the local area of dangerous flood water conditions.

Some of the installations within the trial also incorporate remote flashing beacons, located some distance ahead of the main location, to warn motorists of potential flooded areas ahead, so that they have an opportunity to make alternate travel arrangements before becoming stranded.

Future enhancement options exist to enable the DipStik units to send alert messages directly to high risk community groups, enabling precious response time to be saved.

DipStik solutions can be offered for other applications that include integration into existing Flood Warning and Message Distribution and Event Management systems, already in existence.

DipStik can also be offered with a range of access control devices (boom gates and egress gate latch systems) to enable full automated access control into flooded areas.

The DipStik trial is expected to assist with much needed community education into the dangers of driving into flood waters as well as providing local event management teams with improved data and assisting them to be able to respond to floods more effectively.
